Partnering for the Gospel: A Special Thank You from the SBC of Virginia

SMRBC's partnership with the SBC of Virginia is a vital channel through which we live out the Great Commission together. We believe that we can do far more for the Kingdom in cooperation with like-minded sister churches than any single congregation could accomplish alone. Through these strategic kingdom partnerships, God has allowed our church family to touch lives across Central Virginia, throughout the Commonwealth, and to the ends of the earth.

Recently, our ministry partners at the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia (SBC of Virginia / SBCV) sent a heartfelt video message of gratitude to the SMRBC family, thanking our church for your steadfast generosity, ongoing prayers, and faithful partnership in the Gospel.

From Brian Autry, Executive Director, SBC of Virginia:

Pastor Jim, Staples Mill Road Baptist Church, I just want to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you for your generosity and your faithfulness to the Lord through your partnership with the SBC of Virginia. You're not simply supporting an organization; you're joining other churches to advance the Gospel across Virginia and around the world. And there's some incredible fruit from that partnership.

Church family, together we're planting and revitalizing churches, planting almost 100 other churches across Virginia and several thousand across the U.S. We've also come alongside more than 100 pastors and churches through revitalization.

Your partnership is impacting the next generation. This year, more than 5,000 students participated in our statewide events, and more than $135,000 has been given to fund intern and seminary scholarships.

Together, we've equipped 200 disaster relief volunteers, provided more than $75,000 for hunger relief, and assisted pregnancy centers in eight locations across Virginia.

And your partnership has global impact. Together, we've deployed more than 3,600 international missionaries around the world.

So thank you for praying, giving, going, and sending. Thank you for your cooperative partnership as we advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ together to reach our neighbors and the nations.

How have we partnered with the SBCV?

  • Faithful Cooperative Program Giving: Through our regular church budget, over 9% of our income is directed outward to the Cooperative Program. This unified giving fuels ministry right here through the SBCV, plants churches across North America, trains future pastors and missionaries in our seminaries, and sends thousands of full-time international missionaries through the International Mission Board (IMB).
  • Vision Virginia State Missions Offering: Each year, our church family gives sacrificially to the annual Vision Virginia offering. These gifts go directly to local outreach, critical relief efforts, and church strengthening initiatives throughout Virginia.
  • Regional Ministry in Central Virginia: SMRBC actively collaborates with local SBCV leaders, churches, and ministries for the furtherance of the Gospel across the greater Richmond and Central Virginia area.
  • Fostering Church Plants: As a tangible expression of kingdom hospitality and multiplication, SMRBC currently hosts two vibrant international church plants on our campus—Gracia Sobre Gracia and Cana Bible Church. Both congregations are vital members of the SBCV church planting network, reaching distinct language and cultural communities with the hope of Jesus Christ.
