But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Acts 1:8 (ESV)

At SMRBC, missions is central to who we are and shapes everything we do as a church. This missions priority and passion shows up in our praying, giving, sending, and going.

Praying and Giving to Missions

We pray fervently for the unreached peoples of the world and for those sent out to reach them with the good news. We give cheerfully and sacrificially to support mission efforts. Through God’s grace and enabling, SMRBC is consistently one of the top giving churches per capita to the International Mission Board and North American Mission Board annual offerings. From 2006 to 2020 we have given over $1.2 million to missions through the LMCO offering. This year’s goal is $143,000. Sending and Going to the Mission Field
  • Long-term Missionaries Currently, we have seven family units from our congregation serving long-term overseas as missionaries -- living and serving in South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and South America.
  • Short-term Trips Many have taken short term mission and humanitarian trips within the USA and abroad. We have sent multiple teams to South Asia, East Asia, Africa, Central Asia, and Europe. In every trip we seek to plug in and support long-term missionaries with their ongoing church planting strategies.  This ensures our trips help the work and have lasting Kingdom impact.
  • IMB staff We also are blessed to have many IMB home office staff members in the congregation, as well as a number of former missionaries. It is an honor to encourage these brothers and sisters in their daily work of supporting and expanding the work of nearly 4,000 IMB missionaries around the world.
Loving Immigrants and Refugees

God has brought the nations to us. We have teams who work with immigrants each week, teaching English and meeting other practical needs. We do this in the name of Jesus so that our foreign-born friends have the opportunity to meet their Savior through us.

Mizell House
SMRBC Mission House

SMRBC is excited to provide the Mizell House, a temporary home for SMRBC-sent missionaries to stay in close to the church while they are in the United States. It is named in honor of SMRBC member Cyd Mizell* who was martyred while serving as a Christian aid worker in Central Asia in 2008.  If you're one of our SMRBC families serving overseas, you can learn more and reserve your time at the Mizell House with the following documents:

You can check the Mission House Calendar for tentative occupancy and availability, though the most up-to-date information and final availability is always provided by the SMRBC Missions Committee after completing a request form.

You can get more information or submit your reservation request to Pastor Tommy at tknighten@smrbc.org.

*for more information about Cyd Mizell, see this NBC News article.

To learn more or to plug into one of our mission efforts here or overseas, contact Pastor Tommy at tknighten@smrbc.org.
