More than 41,000 people have been killed and tens of thousands more injured in a devastating earthquake that struck southern Turkey and northern Syria the morning of Monday, February 6.
One of the strongest earthquakes to hit the region in over a century, search and rescue teams are still finding bodies under the rubble and estimate that tens of thousands of residents will need immediate medical attention.
The 7.8 magnitude quake has had at least 1,206 recorded aftershocks, leaving many neighborhoods and entire city blocks completely flattened.
Send Relief is the Southern Baptist agency leading compassion ministry at home and abroad. They respond to crisis and strengthen vulnerable communities around the world by meeting physical and spiritual needs in Jesus’ name, and are partly funded by our regular giving through the Cooperative Program.
Send Relief is working with local partners and churches in Syria and Turkey to respond to critical needs. Within hours of the disaster, local partners began providing blankets, water bottles, food and other emergency supplies in impacted neighborhoods.
In the months to come, Send Relief partners will continue to provide food, heating supplies, trauma counseling and more to thousands of displaced families.
We ask that our church respond in prayer and in giving. To give to help with this need in particular, you can click the button below to give online or designate your check to: "Send Relief: Turkey"
