Choir Director Position Available

Marsha Perkins has served faithfully for many years as our Choir Director. With her upcoming retirement on Dec. 31, the Personnel Committee is charged with finding a new Choir Director. You’ll find the qualifications and job responsibilities listed below.

Choir Director (part-time)

Qualifications:

  • Current Member SMRBC (no outside applications)
  • Musical knowledge and training
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good people skills
  • Preferred - experience directing a choir

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the choir twice monthly in 9:30 and 11:00 worship services
  • Direct the choir in special performances (Christmas and others as desired)
  • Lead and coordinate Choir rehearsals and Specials
  • Select music for the Choir (under supervision of AP for Worship and Discipleship)
  • Put together CD’s/MP3’s as needed for Choir members
  • File and keep track of music and MP3’s/CD’s
  • Plan budget for Choir in coordination with the AP for Worship and Discipleship
  • Work with Sound Manager (coordinating practices, performances, etc.)

Reports to: Associate Pastor for Worship and Discipleship

Hours: 10-15 per week (compensation amount is subject to approval of 2024 budget church)
